The PBO was awarded the Certificate of Accreditation No. 01-0817-2005 by the Board of Dentistry "for having completed the requirements for the recognition of a group of dental specialists and for the approval of its system of accreditation in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Board and approved by the Professional Regulation Commission in Resolution No. 07, Series of 1994."

The certificate was given on November 16, 2005 in Manila, Philippines, signed by Estefania Blanche C. Barbers, DMD, Board Chairman and approved by Leonor Tripon-Rosero, DMD, Chairperson, Professional Regulation Commission.

To date, 62 candidates have passed the Phase I examination. A total of 91 have passed the Phase II Written Examination, entitling them to apply for membership to the Association of Philippine Orthodontists as Associate Members. 17 have passed Phase III 5 Cases Clinical Examination, while 2 have passed the Phase IV 10 Cases Clinical Examination of the PBO for which they were granted Diplomate status. These examinations have been conducted since 1984.

Through the years, PBO has maintained its role of safeguarding the practice of Orthodontics in the Philippines. The challenge for professional excellence still remains for the orthodontic practitioners and the perceived value of certification will continue to rise in today's professional and public arena.
