The Philippine Board of Orthodontics (PBO) was founded 30 years ago in 1980 as the examining body of the Association of Philippine Orthodontists (APO) to impose measures of quality control on the standard of practice of orthodontics, and to safeguard the dental health and well-being of the orthodontic patient.

The PBO is an autonomous SEC registered body. It was recognized in 1989 by the Philippine Regulation Commission’s (PRC) Board of Dentistry and again Accredited in 2005 as the specialty board to accredit orthodontic specialists in the Philippines. Read more...

The PBO Certification Process

An orthodontist is a licensed dentist who has completed an accredited graduate program in the specialty of orthodontics. Orthodontic specialists who limit their practice to Orthodontics are eligible to become board certified through the voluntary examination process of The Philippine Board of Orthodontics (PBO). The conferment of a Diplomate to an orthodontist certifies that the practitioner is practicing within the stringent standards set by the orthodontic community worldwide as mandated by the World Federation of Orthodontists.
